Awakening Faith in an Alternative Future Part 8

Below is the next part of the commentary on my presentation to the national SOFiA conference .....and here again is the link to the full presentation: http://prezi.com/bq9cuhninz0f/awakening-faith-in-an-alternative-future/

I used the segment related to “immersing ourselves in the world – seeking the perspectives of others so that our perspectives don’t colonise others’” to explore emerging practices of learning journeys and responsible and relocalised travel. Such ideas are rooted in the proposition that we don’t travel simply to have a cursory experience or to “consume” another culture or place, but instead seek to immerse ourselves in the patterns of life of another people and place.  I referred to several people and resources to explain how these practices are developing, One of the key resources was the book Walk Out Walk On: A Learning Journey into Communities Daring to Live the Future Now by Margaret Wheatley and Deborah Frieze. A wonderful segment from the book is included in the presentation.
