We are, I suspect, bound to be disappointed if we view measurement as a definitive thing.
It’s quite ephemeral.
I was given fresh insight into the ephemeral nature of measurement recently by a four year old sage.
I was staring in our bathroom mirror – taking particularly close notice of my eyes.
“What are you looking at Daddy?”
“Oh, I think my eyes are a bit puffy.”
“Mine are a bit puffy too.”
“Oh are they?”
“Yes, mine are this puffy” – he tucks his pointer finger into his thumb creating an ellipse that he holds up for me to see. “How puffy are yours?”
I do the same and hold it up for him to see. My adult fingers create a bigger ellipse.
“Yes Daddy, yours are puffier than mine.”
